Haunted Fort and Skinwalkers on Vacation

No, I don't mean that some skinwalkers went on vacation to a haunted fort. 😉

My fiance and I went on vacation to St. Augustine, Florida a few months ago, and drove in a big circle through Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah about a month ago. These stories are from those trips.

ST. AUGUSTINE

This was probably a technical glitch, but want to share it and let you form your own opinion. We toured the Castillo de San Marcos. When we got to the area where you enter the old powder room, a tour guide sitting there commented, "If any room in this fort is haunted, it's this one". It was a weekday off-season so not very crowded, and for some reason my fiance had already gone in there, so I found myself in the powder room alone. The room is very small, with a tiny entryway you have to crawl through, so I only took one photo and crawled back out. We toured the other rooms, took a few more photos, then sat down on a bench in the courtyard area to look at our pics. All of the pics I had taken were there, except the one of the powder room. I hadn't taken a large number, so it was easy to scroll through and verify it was the only one missing. A couple of days later the photograph reappeared, right where it should have been the whole time.

SKINWALKERS

This isn't a sighting, but information given to me by the Navajo guide who led us through a canyon. He said he was perfectly fine with us sharing the information, however, I'm not going to say where we were just in case somebody objects to him having told us these things.

He explained that skinwalkers are believed by some to be real. They are magical practitioners that take the form of animals, and were originally allies of the tribe, performing duties like scouting ahead in animal form to make sure the way was safe. Over time, they begin to bewitch people out of jealousy and became dangerous and to be avoided. I asked him how people were able to hire skinwalkers when they were so adamant about keeping their identities secret. He explained that it was kind of like finding a drug dealer, just tracking them down through word-of-mouth. He also knows of someone who looked through the window of a little house or hut and saw two skinwalkers transforming into coyotes. They they put on skins that completely covered them head to toe, and closed them with zippers. The skins then began to tighten around their bodies until they had transformed into the animals.
