My Spooky Experiences

Hi guys! So, I’ll try to collect here some of my experiences, things I got through in my childhood/teenage years up until now. Believe it or not, these unexplained situations really happened.

Some details about my life: I’m from Brazil, 23yo and although I’m not very religious, I believe in God and grew up in this environment (I have one of those families who believe every strange encounter is devil’s work). We moved a lot from house to house-city to city, so these stories happened in different houses, different moments of my life.

I’ve always had the standard paranormal events happening to me or family members, such as hearing footsteps, things missing, someone/something calling my name, etc. But my parents think our frequent encounters with the paranormal have something to do with my mom growing up at a haunted/cursed farm and only leaving for marriage. Well, let’s begin.

About 10 years before I was born, my father used to go visit my mom at this farm (they were all very poor and there was almost no light at the place). Tons of shit happened there, but the one that wows me is the Rope Hair Guy my dad saw one day, leaving the farm. He tells this story scared shitless, describing this dude as very tall, very strong, dark skin, almost naked and with thick long ropes for his hair (I’ve always thought it could be dreadlocks since everyone says slavery happened there and due to African culture, but who am I to tell). The Thing appeared from behind some tree and came in my father’s direction, making angry noises and quickly threw itself in the ground, crawling like it was scratching his skin on the dirt. Suddenly, it disappeared just like it appeared. Just another normal guy, right?

Fast forward to my teenage years in São Paulo, sleeping alone in a bedroom next to a long hall. This house was particularly dark and cold – my little sister, she tells, had an imaginary friend similar to the entity in movie Mama at the time, pretty normal as well. My dad used to wake up about 6am to make some coffee and in one day at that specific time, I just woke up to stare at the ceilling. Suddenly, I hear someone bumping on the other side of my wall, gradually going to my bedroom’s door, opening the door, entering my room and sitting quietly at the top of my bed. I couldn’t move and was paralyzed beneath my blankets, with a feeling this person was staring at me the whole time. I think it went on for maybe half an hour, then the guy got up and left and I went back to sleep like nothing ever happened. Needless to say my father didn’t wake up to enter my room or make his coffee at this particular day.

When I came back to live in Rio, I couldn’t sleep in my bedroom by myself anymore. It wasn’t because I was afraid of anything, but because my room was “in movement” all night long and the noises, the frequent nightmares, the atmosphere was too dense for me to fall asleep properly. I was about 17 and this went on for almost 2 years. I tried to sleep at my parents bedroom, but the couch in the living room was my favorite spot, so I started to sleep there more often. One glorious night, I woke up to a black boy with really white eyes staring very shy at me, from behind the other sofa. Went to check closely and there was no one there. Awesome.

Last but not least, about 4 years after these events, my father was going into surgery to cut off a finger and me, my mother and my little sister were freaked out (he’s still very ill and never wanted to take care of his health properly). So, my mom was sleeping downstairs, next to my sister and I was upstairs listening to music. My sister runs up very scared, saying my mom was trapped in her sleep for some time, moaning, trying to get out. The two came up and we started to pray vigorously in my bedroom. They say I was in a kind of trance and walked to my parents room, demanding for something to get out of there RIGHT NOW. The three of us had that same feeling and prayed for several minutes until we felt we were safe at the house. It was very tiring, I fell asleep almost instantly.

So, these are some of my interesting experiences. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed it!
