mogollan rim

This happened a couple weeks ago, just finally got a chance to spill it out.

Back information: my best friend B and I whistle back and forth. We've been friends for a few years and it's something we picked up. When she's trying to locate me, or when I'm trying to get her attention, we whistle. A real simple, one single high tune followed by one low tune. We decided to take an off season camping trip in Payson, AZ. We didn't expect it to be as cold as it was there, and we didn't expect to be one of the only 3 campers on the mountain. One of the evenings we were there, the campers next to us said they were expecting up to 5 inches of snow through the night. So I made it my mission to get as much firewood as I could before the sun went down. I got all the wood around our campsite (right next to the lake) but I was still not satisfied, so I decided to take B's forerunner out of camp and up into the woods. When I made it out of the campsite, it got pretty eerie. There's just something about being completely alone in the woods, that makes you feel like you're not alone lol. But it's nothin I haven't done before, and I had my pistol on me so I managed to push past my paranoia and get some wood. I was driving/walking for a good hour, I got a few more bundles, and I was driving slow past a clearing when I see this fresh log over turned. It was a beauty and I had to have it, so I parked the runner and started trekking through. I got about half way, and I hear a whistle. Two toned. One high, one low. Reallllllllllllllll close to me. If I hadn't seen my friend in the rearview at the bottom of the Rim, I would have assumed she was f**king with me. I stopped cold, did a full 360.. But sure enough, I was alone. I high tailed it to that log, sprinted back to the runner, and went back to camp. Found B chilling next to the fire. Not really sure what to make of it, but. It scared the hell out of me.
